Keeping Saffron Posted is a delivery service set up to keep the residents of Saffron informed about what is happening in the area.
The scheme delivers an envelope, to every home on the Saffron Patch every 2 months. That envelope contains information given to us by the service providers within the area about the services they have on offer. Anyone can join in and add their information. Keeping Saffron Posted is a community initiative to get information to the residents of Saffron. Currently the flagship of this initiative is our envelope distribution scheme, but we are working on redeveloping our website www.saffron.org.uk and a services directory, as well as other projects to increase the information flow.
The envelope distribution scheme enables anyone whose organisation is based in, or delivers services to the residents of the Saffron Area to distribute information, to every households on the estate. We have a theme for each delivery – but this does not mean that leaflets not in that theme cannot be included – all are welcome!! In order to be included the organisation simply needs to provide 3000 copies of their own leaflet/material to be delivered. Leaflets need to delivered to the Linwood Centre by the Collection deadline shown below for each delivery. It would be helpful if you could let us know that you want to include something in a delivery in advance, however please ensure that you meet the deadline for the leaflet collection, as we cannot guarantee any late entries will be delivered. It is also important that we do receive 3000 copies of your leaflet. It may not seem important to you if you don’t quite cover the whole estate but if half the entries we receive only send 2700 then the last few streets we pack end up with a much reduced delivery, meaning that it is less useful and therefore they are less likely to open it the next time!
The scheme is already popular with both residents and service providers. The scheme has distributed 2 envelopes with the second having 16 items included, and these have been well received. Entries have included the local Police Newsletter, Invitations to the Domestic Violence Poetry Launch, and the Magistrates Open evening, Information to help residents get a job, get a Pregnancy Test, get a NHS Dental place, join a training scheme and much, much more. All these entries have received great responses.
Delivery Charge: There is a delivery charge of £50 per entry into the envelope. An occasional exception can be made to this delivery charge for smaller organisations where they are prepared to deliver a proportion of the envelopes for us in lieu of paying the delivery charge – but please let us know early as this option is limited and cannot be guaranteed.
Delivery Offer: As we would like to establish a core content for each envelope- something our residents know will be in each envelope, that will encourage them to open it each time, we are offering a discounted delivery offer – for a limited time only! If your organisation commits to an entry in each of the 2008 editions i.e. 6 entries we will give you a 10% discount. That means that you will have information going out to all our residents every 2 months throughout the year for £270! We can arrange to bill you for those entries in a way that works for you, so it may be to meet the deadlines of a project grant, or we can spread it across the year a bit at a time – however it works for you!
